Description - Used for its aromatic properties and bittering potential. A very balanced hop, sometimes called a super Cascade. A medium-sized, dense, compact cone. Medium intensity with floral and citrus tones
Wt. - ½ oz per plug, 1 oz, 2 oz and 1lb packages
Use - All U.S. Ale styles, has been used with U.S. Wheat beers. Used mainly for its aromatic properties and bittering potential.
Possible Substitutions - Cascade, possibly Columbus or Chinook, Analytically 70% Cascade 30% Columbus will give similar profile
Alpha Acid - 9.5-11.5%
Origin/History - Centennial is an aroma-type cultivar, bred in 1974 and released in 1990. The genetic composition is 3/4 Brewers Gold, 3/32 Fuggle, 1/16 East Kent Golding, 1/32 Bavarian and 1/16 unknown. Named from the Washington State Centennial Celebration. At one time this variety was going to be destroyed for lack of interest by the world's Major Breweries. Today it is found very favorable by Craft-Brewers.
Grown and plugged right here in the United States, these hop plugs are the freshest available. Our hops are kept frozen at 32 degrees F before being plugged and once they are plugged, they are vacuum sealed in oxygen / light barrier bags and refrozen. Our bags are labeled with the crop year, plugging date, and harvest alpha.
